When James and I started building Everwild Retreats, we thought about the trips we love taking as a family. We wanted beautiful places where we could settle in together, spread out, play, and come home with stories. A sunset with a child and dog on the deck captures that feeling better than any list of amenities could.

Every Everwild property welcomes kids and dogs. Each destination offers its own version of a family adventure, from salt-air mornings in Washington to red rock trails in Arizona and long evenings in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Beach Days at Indigo | Westport, Washington

At Indigo, the beach is just a short walk away. That means you can head out whenever the light looks too good to miss, let the kids explore the shore, take the dog for a walk, and stay until the sunset colors the water.

Back at the house, the bunk room gives younger guests a space of their own. Ping pong, Pac-Man, and the putting green keep everyone busy between beach outings, and the hot tub is ready when the day winds down. It’s the kind of place where sandy shoes by the door mean everyone had a good day.

Red Rock Adventures at Prickly Pear | Sedona, Arizona

Sedona invites everyone outside. One of our favorite ways to experience it is simple: pick a trail, bring water and snacks, and let the kids set the pace. Even a pause to rest with the dog can become the part of the day you remember most.

At Prickly Pear, there’s room to come back and recharge together. Make dinner, gather around the fire pit, or enjoy a quiet evening under the desert sky. The garage game room and gym space give the family another place to play when it’s time to head inside.

Slow Mornings at Glass House and Gallery House | Near Asheville, North Carolina

Some of the best vacation memories are the unscheduled ones: a dog curled up in a blanket, another coffee on the deck, and a morning nobody feels the need to rush. The pug in our Glass House photo looks like he understands the assignment.

Glass House and Gallery House are lovely for smaller groups, or for two families traveling together who want neighboring spaces. Spend the day exploring the Asheville area and come back for dinner and time outside.

Glass House has a hot tub and breezeway dining, while Gallery House adds a heated swim spa, hot tub, cold plunge, and fire pit. You can book each home for your own crew or bring everyone together across both.

Room for the Big Crew at Summit Speakeasy | Near Asheville, North Carolina

Summit Speakeasy is where the cousins can claim the bunk room, someone is always up for another game, and the mountain views give everyone a reason to linger outside.

With space for a large group, a theater lounge, heated speakeasy game room, swim spa, fire pit, and gym, there’s plenty to do without making a packed itinerary.

We love seeing Roman find his own favorite spots in each house, even the gym. The fun of a family trip is watching everyone settle in and make the place their own.

A Whole House to Explore at Canopy Club | Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

Canopy Club is the sort of place where kids wake up already planning their day. The indoor pool is an obvious first stop. Then there’s mini golf, games, karaoke, and outdoor spaces to explore.

Grown-ups can join in or find their own favorite corner, and the Lookout Lounge Caboose makes the property feel like an adventure before you even leave home base.

Bring the grandparents, invite the cousins, and make room for the dog, too. Whether everyone spends the afternoon swimming or simply stays in together, there’s room for each person to have their kind of vacation.
